A BD-J disc shows a black screen or stopped working
Medium riskWhat you see
- The BD-J disc shows a black screen after you used another jailbreak method.
- A BD-J unpatch payload does not run, or a disc that worked suddenly stops.
What it means
Some disc (BD-J) methods depend on a patched system file, bdjstack.jar. Users report a black screen with a BD-J disc after using another method, a BD-J disc that suddenly stopped working, or an unpatch payload that would not run. Check what state the console is in before you run anything else. This is a diagnostic order, not a confirmed fix.
What to do
Write down your port, firmware and patch state
As a check, note which BD-J port you use, your firmware version, and whether bdjstack.jar is patched right now.
Run only the patch or unpatch payload from the project for your setup
The Netflix-N-Hack README says that, on consoles with a disc drive, the ELF loader can be used to patch or unpatch bdjstack.jar (the BD-UN-JB project). Run it only once the loader is ready, and only the version made for your firmware.
Check that the loader accepts payloads from your device
The Y2JB Autoloader README says its default ELF loader only accepts connections from the PS5 itself. To send a payload from another device, you first have to load a normal ELF loader through autoload.txt, as the README explains.
Restart and test with a disc you know works
As a check, restart the console before each test, so one attempt does not affect the next.
If it started after another method, write down your steps
As a check, note what you ran before the problem started and the exact error you see.
When to stop
Do not repeat unpatch at random
Do not mix payloads made for different firmwares, and do not run an unpatch payload over and over. The Netflix-N-Hack README says this patch is possible, but it does not confirm a fix for every black screen users report.
