The console crashes or shuts down minutes after the jailbreak
Risk of data lossWhat you see
- The console shuts down or has a kernel panic a few minutes after the jailbreak or after a game starts.
- It started after you added a plugin, overlay or payload, and the jailbreak was stable before.
What it means
Users report consoles that crash, have a kernel panic or shut down a few minutes after the jailbreak or after a game starts, even though the jailbreak was stable before. Before you suspect the hardware, rule out what runs on top of the jailbreak: plugins, overlays and optional payloads. The ShadowMount+ README also warns that mounting images can cause shutdown problems and data corruption on internal drives, more often on older firmware. This is a diagnostic order, not a confirmed fix.
What to do
Save your settings, then restart without optional autoload
The onionHEN README says it keeps its settings in /data/OnionHEN/config.ini and /user/data/OnionHEN/config.ini. Copy the file before you change anything.
Turn off the overlay and optional payloads
The README lists an overlay.enabled option and says most options can be changed in the Toolbox. Auto-start for your own payloads is also set in the Toolbox, and plugins live in /data/OnionHEN/plugins/. Keep only the stack you really need.
Repeat the same test, then add things back one at a time
As a check, do the same thing that crashed before. If it is stable, turn each plugin, overlay or payload back on by itself and test again after each one.
Read the onionHEN logs
The README says the main log is /data/OnionHEN/OnionHEN.log and that crash details are kept in /data/OnionHEN/OnionHEN_crash.log.
Read the ShadowMount+ log
The ShadowMount+ README says debug logging is on by default and writes to /data/shadowmount/debug.log. It also watches game launches for up to 60 seconds and shows a notification when it sees a fatal error.
Only then look at temperature and power
As a check, if the problem continues with only the base stack, look at temperature, ventilation and the power supply.
When to stop
Do not delete everything
Some users report the problem stopped after they removed one recently added item. That does not prove there is a fixed timer, and it is not a reason to delete all your games or data. Do not load two HEN stacks at the same time. Because the ShadowMount+ README warns about data corruption on internal drives, back up your saves before more tests.
