Y2JB does not start because the app or backup is the wrong one
Risk of data loss✓ ProvenWhat you see
- After installing the YouTube app or restoring the Y2JB backup, the setup does not start.
What it means
Y2JB needs a specific version of the YouTube app, and the right version depends on your firmware. The Y2JB README lists one YouTube version for firmware up to 12.40 and another for 12.60 and later. The Y2JB releases page does the same for the backup files: one for 4.03 to 12.40 and one for 12.60 and later. If the app or the backup does not match your firmware, the setup may not start.
This applies to the original Y2JB project.
What to do
Check your firmware against the backup's range on the releases page
Each backup file on the releases page is listed for a firmware range. Use only the one that covers your firmware.
Check the YouTube version for your firmware in the README
The README lists one YouTube version for up to 12.40 and another for 12.60 and later. Do not mix files from the two ranges.
When to stop
Restoring a backup erases the console
Restoring the Y2JB backup changes the data on your console. The Y2JB README warns that the restore resets the PS5 to factory settings and erases all data on it. Read the whole restore procedure before you start, and back up your saves first.
