FTP file transfer
Connect to your PS5 over FTP to browse and transfer files between the console and your computer.
Jailbreak required
You need an active jailbreak and HEN running. Follow the jailbreak tutorial first.
What is FTP on PS5?
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) lets you browse the PS5 file system from your computer and transfer files in both directions. You need a homebrew FTP server running on the PS5 and an FTP client on your computer.
How to set it up
Install an FTP server homebrew
Install an FTP server PKG on the PS5. See how to install PKG files if you have not done it before.
Launch the FTP server
Open the FTP server app on the PS5. It will show the console's IP address and the port it is listening on (usually port 2121).
Connect from your computer
Open an FTP client on your computer (FileZilla, WinSCP, or any other). Connect to:
- Host: the IP address shown on the PS5 screen
- Port: the port shown (usually 2121)
- User/Password: usually anonymous or left blank
Browse and transfer files
Once connected, you can browse the PS5's file system. Be careful not to delete or overwrite system files — this can brick the console.
Do not modify system files
Deleting or changing files outside of the user data folders can make the console unbootable. Only transfer files to the folders the homebrew app directs you to.
