Back up your own games
Create a backup of games you own on disc or digital. This guide covers only your own games — never pirated content.
Jailbreak required
You need an active jailbreak and HEN running. Follow the jailbreak tutorial first.
Your own games only
This guide covers backing up games you own — discs you bought or digital purchases tied to your account. This guide does not explain how to obtain games you do not own, and this website does not link to any source of pirated content.
Why back up your games?
- Preserve your disc games as digital copies so you do not need the disc every time.
- Keep a copy in case a disc gets scratched or damaged.
- Store games on an external drive for faster access.
How to back up a disc game
Insert the disc
Put the game disc in the PS5. Do not start the game.
Use a dumping tool
With the jailbreak and HEN active, run a disc dumping homebrew app. It reads the disc and saves a copy to the console's internal storage or a USB drive.
Transfer the backup
Use FTP or a USB drive to move the backup to your computer or external storage.
Install the backup
The backup is a PKG file. Install it like any other PKG — see how to install PKG files.
Do not share your backups
Sharing your game backups with others is piracy. This guide exists to help you preserve your own library, not to distribute games.
