Retro emulators on PS5
Run retro console emulators on your jailbroken PS5. Requires your own ROMs from games you own.
Jailbreak required
You need an active jailbreak and HEN running. Follow the jailbreak tutorial first.
Your own ROMs only
Emulators are legal. ROMs are legal only if you dumped them from cartridges or discs you own. This guide does not link to any ROM download site.
What can you emulate?
With a jailbroken PS5 you can run emulators for retro consoles such as NES, SNES, Game Boy, Mega Drive/Genesis, PlayStation 1, N64, and more. Performance depends on the emulator and the system being emulated.
How to set it up
Get the emulator PKG
Download the emulator from its official GitHub repository. It comes as a PKG file. Check the verified repositories list for reviewed emulators.
Install the emulator
Install the PKG on the PS5. See how to install PKG files.
Transfer your ROMs
Copy your ROM files to the PS5 using FTP or a USB drive. Place them in the folder the emulator expects (check the emulator's README).
Launch and play
Open the emulator from the home screen, browse to your ROMs folder, and select a game. Most emulators support the DualSense controller natively.
Do not download ROMs from the internet
ROM sites distribute copyrighted games without permission. Use only ROMs you dumped yourself from media you own. This website does not link to, endorse, or provide any ROM downloads.
Recommended repositories
Verified on GitHub. Always read the README before installing.
